Phyllis Fern Stakeman, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, in her home with her husband and children by her side. She was born June 4, 1929, in Indiana, to Vivian and James Diehl. Phyllis was married to the love of her life, for 66 years, Rudy, who survives her.
Phyllis also is survived by her five children: two daughters and three sons, Ethel Thomas and husband Gregg of Decatur, Ill., Phyllis Glosser and husband Rusty of Marshall, Ill., and Rudolph J. Jr., Randy and wife Dara, and Bruce and wife Kim, all of Terre Haute; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice “Sis” Corenflos; brother, James Diehl; sister-in-law, Myrna Diehl; brother-in-law, Jerry Corenflos; and a special daughter-in-law, Sherry Stakeman.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will take place on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., with her grandson, Kurt Glosser, officiating. Special music will be performed during visitation services by great-granddaughter, Maddie Muncie, harpist. A special song will be performed during services by granddaughter, Ashley Stakeman and friend Kylie Coover. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5 until 8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
