Mary Kathryn Wetli

Mary Kathryn Wetli (1945-2013) passed away at her home on Thursday afternoon after an eight-month-long battle with cancer. She was born on Sept. 24, 1945, in Terre Haute, Ind., to James and Mary DeLane Carney. She was 67 years old.

She graduated from Schulte High School in Terre Haute and then received her bachelor of arts degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. She worked for Capper Tulley & Reimondo Law Office for 40 years. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Crawfordsville, Psi Iota Xi and Friends of Captiva, and served on the American Red Cross board of directors.

She married Dan Henley, and he passed away in 1974. She then married John (Jack) Wetli on Sept. 1, 1978, at St. Bernard’s in Crawfordsville, Ind., and he survives. Other survivors include daughters Danielle (Bob) Coudret, Heather Elenich and Christina Wetli; sons Craig (Michelle) Wetli, John Wetli, Joe (Deirdre) Wetli and Charles Wetli;  and grandchildren Cali Wetli, Carter Coudret, Vivian Wetli, Bennett Elenich, Louisa Wetli, Devin Wetli, Delaney Elenich and Kyler Coudret.

According to her wishes, cremation was chosen, and funeral services will take place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Monday, at noon. The family will greet friends and family from 9 a.m. to noon at the church on Monday. Father Dennis Faker will officiate. The family will have a private burial of the remains at Calvary Cemetery in Crawfordsville at a later date. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials may be made to the Dr. Mary Ludwig Free Clinic Fund, c/o Montgomery County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 334, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
