Jerry W. Richardson

DANA — Jerry W. Richardson, 62, of Dana, passed away at 10:44 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, in his residence, after an extended illness with heart disease. He was an auxiliary operator with Duke Energy, having began his career with Public Service Indiana. He was born July 3, 1951, in Terre Haute, to William H. Richardson and Nova Lorena Palmer Richardson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Hedden Richardson, whom he married Dec. 14, 1970, in Terre Haute; three sons, Travis Richardson and wife Shelly of Terre Haute, Jerry Richardson II and wife Sami of Crawfordsville, and William “Billy” Richardson and wife Keri of Montezuma; four daughters, Casha Lindley and companion Bobby Poteet of Ladoga, Jerri Seeley of Dana, Michele Richardson and companion Robby Hinkle of Dana, and Mary Place and companion Sean Wilbanks of Blanford; 19 grandchildren, Travis Richardson II, Brandon Richardson, Jenna Richardson, Drake Richardson, Hope Richardson, Chloe Richardson, Brycen Richardson, Braxton Richardson, Braden Richardson, Jeramy Richardson, Jerred Richardson, Dominique Seeley, Scott Seeley II, Misty Lindley, Leslie Lindley Jr., Alexis Dreher, Ryan Johnson, Sara Foster, and Damian Place; four great-grandchildren, Leland Lindley, Mia Richardson, Devin Lindley, and Leah Woods; two sisters, Diane Larimer-Zayed of Clinton, and Carrie Johnson and husband Art of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, Ronald Richardson of Terre Haute; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl and Esther Hedden of Terre Haute, and Stanley “Vic” and Linda Hedden of the Dominican Republic; one aunt, Louise Lloyd of Texas; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Courtney Richardson; a brother, William H. Richardson Jr., who was killed during the Vietnam War in 1967; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Mary Hedden.

Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, during which he received a bronze star. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 1395. He loved spending time with his family, going to his grandchildren’s baseball games and also fishing and camping with his family and grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jerry will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute, with his brother-in-law, the Rev. Stanley “Vic” Hedden officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with graveside military rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honorguard. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to services Thursday.
