Donald Ely

TERRE HAUTE — Donald (Don) Ely, formerly of Neosho, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, after a battle with leukemia, in Terre Haute, where he lived with his wife Jill (nee Humphrey) and his granddaughter, Brittany.

He is also survived by his son, Eric Ely (Kacey) of Terre Haute; two grandsons, Braislin Ely of Terre Haute, and Castor Ely of Leland, N.C.; his parents, L. Maurice and Barbara Ely of Neosho, Mo.; three brothers, Ron Ely (Cami) of Grove, Okla., C. Max Ely (Toni) of Clearwater, Fla., and James Ely (Rhonda) of Neosho; one sister, Beverly Burlison (Rich) of Neosho; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Don never sought anything for his own good, but his heart was to make others happy. He had a unique sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh with him.  He was the first to be willing to help when he could. He will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, Nov. 21, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m., at The Life Center, 3001 College Ave. An informal gathering to celebrate Don’s life will also be held at The Life Center on Friday morning at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Homes & Crematory. Online condolences may be left at:
