TERRE HAUTE —
Former Terre Haute resident, Martha Lee Harris, 86, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, in Cleveland. Martha was born in Alton, Ill., Aug. 8, 1927, to parents, Joseph and Edna Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Virginia Alexander and Nadine Hight; brothers, Joseph Williams, Kenneth Williams and John Williams; and niece, Edna Betty Thompson.
She graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1945. She later moved to Cleveland in 1956.
Her interests included traveling, family and reading. She traveled all over the United States and to several foreign countries. She devoted much of her time and energy to family and enjoyed music and reading. Martha will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her son, Michael Harris and his wife Calvesta of Cleveland; grandchildren, Michelle Harris and Michael Harris Jr., and Richard Ellington; great-grandchildren, Shelton Harris and Keela Harris; sister-in-law, Reiko Williams of Terre Haute; nephew, Johnny Williams and his wife Martha of Anchorage, Alaska; and nephew, Joseph Williams and his wife Tara of Terre Haute.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gaines Funeral Home, 9116 Union Ave., Cleveland, OH. 44105. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the funeral home.
