TERRE HAUTE — Mary Lou Coltharp, 70, of Missouri City, Texas, died at 12:20 a.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. She was born April 8, 1943, to Buell Sagraves and Tishia Jones Sagraves, in Terre Haute. She graduated from Glenn High School and attended Indiana State University until her marriage to Robert (Bob) Coltharp in 1964. They then moved to Gainesville, Fla., where Bob completed an advanced degree at the University of Florida. In 1969 Bob was deployed by the Army to NASA at Clear Lake. They lived in the Friendswood area where she was an active member of the Friendswood United Methodist Church. In 1978 they moved to Missouri City and joined the First United Methodist Church Missouri City. While her children were young, she worked in the Mother’s Day Out program at FUMC MC. She then worked at the Fort Bend Hospital and subsequently in the Memorial Hermann system as a Medical Staff Coordinator for more than 20 years. In 2006 she served as president of the Greater Houston Society for Medical Staff Services. She was very active in missions work at FUMC. She volunteered at East Fort Bend Human Needs and was the FUMC MC church volunteer coordinator along with Bob for the Fort Bend Family Promise program for many years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family and was actively involved in supporting them at all their activities.  

Survivors include her husband, Robert; sister, Betty Sagraves of Missouri City; daughter, Suzanne and husband Rusty Medlin of Spring Branch, Texas,; sons, Greg Coltharp and wife Lisa (Tyson) Coltharp of Houston, and Jeffrey Coltharp and wife Crystal (Cumba) Coltharp of Missouri City; and nine grandchildren — Shelby, Emily and CJ Medlin, Megan, Jordan and Jake Coltharp, and Jackson, Joshua and Grace Coltharp. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Bonnie Sagraves, Annabel Baker, and her brothers, Glen Sagraves and Eugene Sagraves.   

A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary at 3 p.m. CDT Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the First United Methodist of Missouri City. Claire Brothers Funeral Home, in Houston, assisted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to FUMC MC or Fort Bend Family Promise.
