Kathy Ann Knox

BRAZIL — Kathy Ann Knox, 55, of Brazil, passed away Sept. 5, 2013, following a courageous 41-year battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 6, 1958, the daughter of Harold “Buddy” Knox and Shirley (Keck) Knox. Kathy graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1977. She then attended Ivy Tech studying to become a secretary.

She began her career in the paper industry, working for Ivy Hill in Terre Haute. Kathy was promoted several times within the industry, ultimately working as a Specialty Paper Representative for Domtar Paper. Over the years, she lived in Los Angeles, Calif., Nashville, Tenn., and Minneapolis, Minn., before returning home to Brazil in 2005. Most recently, she worked as an assistant manager at Walgreens in Brazil.

Kathy enjoyed volunteering at Community Theatres, both in L.A. and in Brazil. She was also a past member of the Clay County 4-H Horse and Pony Club and had served as Worthy Matron of the Riley Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 22. Kathy loved animals especially her horse. “Sugar Bar”; her beloved bird, “Oscar”; and her Chihuahua, “Dixie.” She was an avid crafter and especially enjoyed paper crafts.

Amongst her many attributes Kathy will be remembered for her determination, zest for life and love for her family and friends. Despite numerous medical challenges, she was able to lead a full life and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Shirley (Keck) Knox of Brazil; father, Harold “Buddy” Knox and his wife Martha; siblings, Kim Deakins of Brazil, Kay Knox of Columbus, Ohio, Kelly Knox of Brazil, Dianna Knox of Brazil, and Michael Knox (Nancy) of Bowling Green; nephews, Matthew Deakins (Terra) of Brazil, Zachary Knox, Jacob Knox, Anthony Knox, all of North Dakota, and Brantley Knox of Bowling Green; as well as a very large extended family.

Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, in Brazil, Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home, Monday, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery. To light a candle in her memory, visit:
