COAL CITY —
Andy “Tex” Horn, 65, of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday, April 6, 2013. Tex was born May 19, 1947, the son of the late Archie and Audrey “Bill” (Funk) Horn. Tex was a part of the Clay City graduating class of 1965. Tex married the late Nancy Burns on June 20, 1970. Tex continued the family farm, while working for Amax Coal Company. When the coal company closed, he went to work at JW Jones in Cloverdale, where he retired from. After retirement Tex and his wife started Horn Mower Repair in Clay City.
In his free time Tex enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, wood working, playing cards especially Euchre, and going to auctions and sales. But he took the most pride in spending time with his grandchildren.
Tex was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Burns) Horn; parents, Archie and Bill Horn; brother, Wayne Horn and wife Nina; sisters, Louada White and husband Hardy, Mary Katherine Stantz and husband Wayne.
He is survived by his children, Lee Horn and Amanda Horn (Kenny Barnhart); grandchildren, Amy, Michelle, Sam, Max, Andrew, and Eli; and special friend, Thelma Hayhurst; as well as extended family and friends.
Services will be Friday, April 12, 2013, at 12 noon, at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, with Pastor Lonnie Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., as well as Friday, April 12, 2013 from 10 a.m. until time of service. To light a candle in his remembrance visit:
