Eleanor R. McClara, 76, of Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Eleanor was born in Rosedale, on Aug. 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth (Hartman) Ames. Mrs. McClara was a caregiver to many.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy McClara, Oct. 11, 1973; and sister, Melva Williams.
Mrs. McClara is survived by her daughters, Joyce A. Stamper of Terre Haute, Valerie (Darrek) Davis of Rosedale, and Derri Llewellyn of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Cory Stamper of Terre Haute, Lindsay Llewellyn of Indianapolis, and Jason Busenbark of Rockville; great-granddaughter, Sophia Stamper; sister, Lavern Handlin of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor’s family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church, 1401 Barbour Ave., in Terre Haute and Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Celebration of life will be held Monday, April 8, 2013, 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Bob Roush officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in North Terre Haute. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any First Financial Bank branch in Eleanor’s name Arrangements are under the direction of Simple Cremations and Burials.
