Erma Elizabeth ‘Little Bit’ Thomas

TERRE HAUTE — Erma Elizabeth “Little Bit” Thomas, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, in Springhill Village. She was born in Terre Haute on Feb. 9, 1924, to Roy Wake and Flora Wake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Thomas, in 1964; her parents; and three sisters, Jenny Mattox, Mary Smith, and Betty Boling.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Lou Rogers; her grandson, John Howard and wife Kathy; great-grandchildren, Brittany Howard, Steven Howard, and Brooke Howard; as well as her great-great-grandchildren. Austin Romine, Alyson Romine, Alexa Gulley, and Ayden Romine. Other survivors include a sister, Judy Wyrick; two brothers-in-law, Robert Wyrick and Bill Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Erma was a secretary and telephone operator for the late President Dwight Eisenhower, and also was an employee for West Vigo Middle School for more than 20 years.

Funeral services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 10 a.m., with Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. Erma's family would like to invite everyone to a Celebration of Life Service at the Anthony Square Dining Facility immediately following graveside services.
