Michael Emmett Shoulders
CARLISLE — Michael Emmett Shoulders, 59, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Vincennes. He was born July 5, 1954, in Mount Carmel, Ill., the son of Milo Emmett and Ada Belle (Davison) Shoulders. Michael graduated from Brownsburg High School class of 1972, and enlisted in the US Army and served from January 1977 until January 1981. He was a prison guard at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, in Carlisle, from 2004-2013, and was previously employed at Paper Manufacturing, in Indianapolis from 1981-2001.
Michael’s loves were his family, especially his Poppy, Indiana University basketball and all sports in general; going fishing with his nephew, Benny; his dog, Molly; and his truck, Nadine.
He is preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Jackie Joe Shoulders.
Survivors include his father; sister, Sharon Sue (Richard) Goss of Sullivan; nephew, Benny Joe (Angie) Shoulders; and niece, Kyla Sue Kuhnlein.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Banks and Brust Funeral Home, in Sullivan, with Brother Verle “Butch” Davison officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, in Carlisle, with a graveside military service by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legion posts and Sullivan County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
