TERRE HAUTE —
Vernon K. Harlan, 64, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Terre Haute, on July 14, 1949, to Warren Harlan and Joy Laybold Harlan.
Vernon was a farmer, and enjoyed restoring tractors and attending antique tractor shows. His memberships included Farm Bureau and Advisory Board for Farm Credit Services.
He is survived by his wife, Emma M. Harlan, whom he married Oct. 22, 1983; and his son, Jared S. Harlan. Also surviving is his sister, Loretta Harlan; his brother, Dennis Harlan and wife Vicki; and a nephew, Spencer Harlan. Other survivors include his father-in-law, Bob Axe; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Axe and John Axe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Axe.
Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Kevin Dobson officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
