Mary Louise Cloyd

CLINTON — Mary Louise Cloyd went to be with the Lord on Oct. 22, 2013. She was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Clinton, to Scott and Elizabeth Craig. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1938. She began her working career at her Uncle John Goldners café, Palace Club. This is where she met her husband of 64 years, Carl F. Cloyd, who preceded her in death April 24, 2005. They were married Nov. 28, 1940. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, 50-year member of Wakofe Club, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Lioness Club. She also was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church, in Clinton.

She worked as a bookkeeper. She kept books for her father’s business, worked at Vermillion County Trustees office and ran the license branch. She also had worked for 16 years at Clinton State Bank. She would eventually retire from her son Tom’s dental practice in the late 1990’s, after many years of service in his office.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Carl Craig Cloyd; four brothers, Tom, Jack, Doyne and Joe Craig; one sister, Irene Lundstrum; and a nephew, Dave Craig.

She is survived by three sons, G. Thomas Cloyd, DDS, (Tory), Tim Cloyd (Susan) and Kris Cloyd, all of Clinton; her grandchildren, Ben Cloyd (Arakise) and Adam Cloyd (Nicole), both of Brownsburg, Ross Cloyd (Courtney) of Rogers, Ark., Casey McGaha (Gary), Timothy James Cloyd, Dane Cloyd (Catie), and a stepgrandson, Jeremy Marion, all of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Keaton and Carson Cloyd of Rogers, Ark., Nickolas, Nadia, Reece and Kendall Cloyd of Brownsburg, MaKenzie McGaha, Truman, Will and Eli Cloyd, and stepgrandchildren, Garrett and Wayne McGaha, all of Clinton.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Frist Funeral Home, with an OES memorial service at 7 p.m. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Danny Caulkins officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church, in Clinton. Online condolences may be made at:
