NEW GOSHEN — Linda Lee Pickard Spurr, 66, of New Goshen, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. She had been employed as a certified dietary manager at the Vermillion Convalescent Center for 28 years. She was born April 26, 1947, in Universal, to Clovis Pickard and Mattie Vandeventer Pickard.
Survivors include a son, Steven Spurr of New Goshen; a daughter, Aimee Spurr and her fiancé John Unakis of Georgetown, Ill.; a sister, Deronda Burroughs and husband John of Floral City, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Wilma Pickard of New Goshen; three granddaughters, Samantha Donham and husband John, Meghan Miller and husband Bill, and Jordan Wallace; five great-grandchildren; her best friend Susie Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Dina Houser and husband Tim; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Patricia Pickard, who was an infant, and Marlene Heneman; and by her former husband, Jerry Spurr.
According to her wishes, cremation has been scheduled. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at West Side Community Church, 126 N. 8th St., West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Chris Wilbur officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Thursday. Burial of her ashes will be at a later date in Pleasantview Cemetery. There will also be a meal for friends and family immediately following the services in the church fellowship hall. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
