SULLIVAN — Wayne Jackson, 73, of Sullivan, passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor, in Sullivan, on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was born at home in Knox County, near Sandborn, on March 7, 1940, to Raymond and Hazel Wehemier Jackson. Wayne was a 1958 graduate of Sullivan High, a graduate of Automotive Diesel School in Nashville Tenn., and a farmer in Sullivan County all of his life. He was a member of Shaker Prairie Christian Church, where he served as an elder, a member and past master of the Carlisle Lodge 3 Free & Accepted Masons, Carlisle Oddfellows Lodge, Sullivan Elks Lodge 911, he served on the Sullivan County Aviation Board, Sullivan County Fair Board, Sullivan County Credit Union, Sullivan County Soil and Water Conservation Board, and he was instrumental in helping with the rafting trips that the Sullivan County eighth graders would participate in.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Judi Finch Jackson, whom he married on June 17, 1962; a son, Todd (Rhonda) of Sullivan; a daughter, Paige Shake (Ron) of Sullivan; a sister, Suzanne Boles (Ron) of Russellville Ky.; four grandchildren, Alexandria Jackson, Reed Jackson, Taylor Shake and Jackson Shake.
Services for Wayne will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Holmes Memorial Chapel, in Sullivan, with the Rev Harold Hatfield and Randy Pigg officiating. Visitation will be on Friday 4 to 8 p.m. with Masonic lodge services from Carlisle Lodge 3 beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
