Alicia ‘Alice’ Florence Purdy-Brush-Stocker

TERRE HAUTE — Alicia “Alice” Florence Purdy-Brush-Stocker, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away at 3 a.m. April 15, 2013. She was born April 26, 1929, in Terre Haute, to Paul LaVictor Purdy Sr. and Hazel Florence Eblen-Purdy. Alice and her first husband, Kenneth William Brush Sr., owned and operated several Sinclair and Zephyr filling and service stations in the Terre Haute area. Alice also was employed by Campbell Soup, Quaker Maid, MAB Paint Store, Paitson Brother’s Hardware, Woolco Woolworth Department Store in a clerical capacity, Lakeview Nursing Home, and Hill’s Department Store. Alice also was a stay at home Mother for many years too. Alice and her family attended First Assembly of God for many years. Alice enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, baking, sewing, reading, studying and learning the word of God.  Alice was always a clown at heart and loved to laugh and smile. She was always worrying and concerned about everyone she loved and was always concerned about others and willing to help anyone in need. She will be greatly missed.

Alice will be welcomed home by her first husband and father of her children, Kenneth William Brush Sr.; her eldest son, Kenneth William Brush Jr.; her father and mother; brothers, Paul LaVictor Purdy Jr. and Phil Purdy; and several aunts and uncles.

Alice will be greatly missed by her husband of 28 years, Wilbur Lee Stocker; daughter, Darlene Ann Brush-Rogers and husband Chris Rogers of Terre Haute; son, William Alan Brush of Terre Haute; granddaughters, Angella Michelle Brush-Bush, Melissa Annette Brush-Frye, Christine Lynn Brush, all of Louisville, Ky., Jill Ann Stamper-Fitzek, and Allison Renee Stamper-Emery, both of Terre Haute; and great-grandchildren, Emma Nicole Warnock, Peyton Thomas Warnock, Ryley Michael Emery, Izsak Joel Emery, Mariah Alise Hines, and Taylor Marie Hines; and several loving brothers and sisters to include: Patricia Tarwater, Sarah Purdy-Phelps, Pete Purdy and his wife Judy, Sam Purdy and his wife Sandy, John Purdy and his wife Marie, Paula Purdy-Wood, and Naomi Purdy-Mundy and her husband Jim; and several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services for Alice will be at 1 p.m Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., in Terre Haute, with Pastor James Thurston officiating. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 19, 2013, and 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Online condolences may be made at:
