Fred Earl Roberts Sr., 85, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at his residence. He was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Fontanet, to Fred and Pearl Roberts. Earl was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Earl retired from Prox Machine Shop in 1990. He was a member of the 8th Street Wesleyan Church in West Terre Haute. He was inducted into Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009. Earl loved to play his guitar and volunteered his musical talents at Cannon Inn, McMillan Day Care, and Meadows Manor North.
Earl is survived by four grandchildren, Cory Roberts and wife Amanda, Earl Roberts and wife Mary Ann, Chelsea Roberts, and Lory Roberts; nine great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Carol Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Roberts; his second wife, Dorothy Marshall Roberts; two sons, Earl and Raymond Roberts; brothers, Fred and Leo Roberts; sister, Opal Archer; and daughter-in-law, Terri Roberts.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by American Legion Post 104. Online condolences may be expressed at;
