Gladys Etta Cox, 99, of Terre Haute, passed away on Feb. 22, 2014, at 2:05 p.m. She was born in Evansville on Jan. 16, 1915, to Jacob Matthews and Mary Jane (Lively) Matthews. Gladys was a member of Union Baptist Church. She also held membership in the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 43, Eagles Aerie 291, and Caldron of Kerman Grotto.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 16 years, Edgar Cox; daughter, Joanne Hayden; stepdaughters, Janet Roach and husband Wayne, and Linda Miller; stepson, Edward Cox and wife Barbara; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Suttie in 1988; and her sister, Elsie Whalen.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at 12 noon, in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. The Rev. Rod Maris will be officiating. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Online condolences can be made at:
