Ruth L. Weger Rayhel, 67, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in her residence surrounded by her family. Ruth was born on Sept. 30, 1946, in Terre Haute, to Everett Smith and Helen Elwell Smith. She had worked in customer service most of her life, a profession that she enjoyed. Ruth was a member of Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, where she taught all grades of Sunday School. She was a Foster Grandmother and loved spending time with her own grandchildren and her family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, Robert Weger Sr., who passed away July 11, 2007. She also was preceded by two daughters, Pamela Hild and Laura Snyder; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson. Ruth is survived by her husband, John Rayhel, whom she married April 2, 2011; four sons, Bobby Weger Jr. and his wife Ida, George Weger and his wife Barbi, David Weger and his wife Marla, all of Terre Haute, and Jonathon Rayhel of St. Louis, Mo.; five daughters, Patty Cottom and her husband Jerry, Sandy Lawrence and her husband Bobby, Millie Schell, Ethel Adkins and her husband Jimmy and Virginia Reyhel and her husband David, all of Terre Haute; two sisters, Janice Hawkins of Terre Haute and Martha Loughmiller and her husband Charlie of Brazil. She also is survived by 32 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, 3201 McKeen Street, in Terre Haute, with Pastor Andy Fishback officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at:
