James “Jim” L. Long

SULLIVAN — SULLIVAN — James “Jim” L. Long, 68, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 4:58 PM at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born at home in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 9, 1943 the son of Alvin H. Long, Sr. and Marie T. (Pierce) Long. Jim graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1961 and attended Indiana Business College. He worked as a mechanic for Esten Fuson Cadillac. He then joined the Terre Haute Police Department and retired after 20 years of service. During which he opened and operated J Long Garage. He later retired from the Terre Haute International Airport in 1999 when he married his loving wife Jeanne on July 4th. Jim was a member of The F.O.P and The Gold Wings Association.  

Preceded in death by his parents, brother; Alvin “Sonny” Long, Jr., infant daughter; Rebecca Lynn Long and infant granddaughter; Baby Wallace

Survivors include his wife; Jeanne, children; Cheryl Hoesman & Don, Jamie Bozarth, Mandee Gosnell & Reggie, Mike Burt & Margaret, Rob Burt & Marianne, Michelle Criss & Troy, grandchildren; Lacie & Cassie Bozarth, Kaitlyn (Brat Kid), Aaron (Jimbo Oleo) & Bailee Wallace, Justin, Cody & Madison Burt, Skylar Long, Kendall, Grace, Max, & Sophia Burt, Kaylee & Alyssa Criss. Jim is also survived by his brother; Robert Long & Pat, sister; Nancy Groth & Larry, nieces & nephews; Dale Long & Cheryl, David Long & Tana, Rhonda Baer & Shane, and Andy Long & Maria and several great nieces & great nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM with the funeral service immediately following on Saturday, March 17, 2012 with Rev. Chris McKinney officiating at Banks and Brust Funeral Home; 400 North Court Street in Sullivan, Indiana. Jims’ final wishes were for cremation.
