Floyd Allen Newman ‘Skip’ Cutliff


TERRE HAUTE — April 4, 1949-Nov. 23, 2013

Floyd Allen Newman “Skip” Cutliff, 64, of Henderson, Ky., passed away peacefully at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Washington Nursing Center in Washington, Ind., of lung and brain cancer. Floyd was born April 4, 1949, in Terre Haute, a son to Floyd A. Newman and Dorothy J. Shaner of Terre Haute. Adopted parents were Floyd A. Cutliff and Ruth Schimmel of Terre Haute.

He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Gaw of Henderson and Dawn Brattain of Terre Haute; two adopted sisters, Sally and April Cutliff; two daughters, Heather and Heidi Cutliff of Illinois; grandchildren; lots of aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and half brothers and sisters.

Cremation has been scheduled. Per Floyd’s requests, there will be no funeral services. Burial will be at the family’s discretion by Dorothy Gaw and Dawn Brattain.

His brother-in-law, Fred Gaw and very best friend says, “Skip, find a good fishing hole and wait for him.”

We would like to say thank you to all the people at the Washington Nursing Center and Gentiva Hospice and to all his very good and dear friends who stood by him to the very end.

He will be missed dearly by all who loved him.
