Alexis J. Holbert-Darkis

BRAZIL — Alexis J. Holbert-Darkis, 20, of Brazil, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, from injuries sustained during an automobile accident. She was born Nov. 23, 1992, the daughter of Thomas Holbert and Lisa Darkis. Alexis was a graduate from Northview High School, class of 2011. She also attended University of Southern Indiana. She was currently working for IAC in Greencastle.  

Lexi was a five-year Northview Band Member and she found her joy in playing her instruments with the band. She played clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, mellow phone and French horn. She received a State Champion Ring twice during her time with NMK. She played during marching band, concert band and with the jazz band.  

Lexi was well known as a “country girl.” She liked pink “camo,” fishing, country music, and watching stock car races at Lincoln Park.  

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, George Brown; great-grandparents, Delbert Darkis and Patricia Darkis; and grandmother, Linda Holbert.

Survivors include her mother, Lisa Atwood and Mike Harris of Martinsville, Ind.; father, Thomas Holbert of Iowa; grandparents, Mary and Delbert Darkis of Brazil; great-grandmother, Kathleen Clough of West Terre Haute; sister, Sarah Ponto of Martinsville; half brother, J.T. Holbert; two aunts, Tracey Cummings (Dan) of Franklin, Ind., and Stacey Darkis of Santa Monica, Calif.; cousin, Lewis Cummings of Franklin; several other aunts, uncles, and extended family. Also, many close friends including Kyle Marlar.

Services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Lawson-Miller Chapel,  1702 E. National Ave., in Brazil, with Pastor Harvey Weaver officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and again Saturday prior to services. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Northview Marching Band for student expenses.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Light a candle in her memory at:
