Thelma J. Parr

TERRE HAUTE — Thelma J. Parr, 104, was called home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 1, 2013, in her residence. She was born Feb. 8, 1909, in Scottscity, Ind., to Mary Fears Peak and Otis Peak. She has spent her last months in her home being cared for by her loving granddaughter, Gail Emge. Thelma was baptized in North Terre Haute Baptist Church and graduated from Tech High School. She worked with her family in the concession business after her husband passed away until the early 1980s.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Jacob Parr, who passed away March 22, 1960; a grandson, Ken McCrea Church in 2005; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Parr in 2009. Survivors include her three loving children, son, Robert L. Parr of Terre Haute, daughter, Mary Kay Pedigo and her husband Howard of Plainfield, and a son, David J. Parr and his wife Linda of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet, Pug Suzi.

Services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, in Terre Haute. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pastors Marsha Reed and Ric May will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at:
