ROSEDALE — Kyle T. West, 23, of Rosedale, formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, in his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was employed with GE Aviation in Terre Haute. He was born April 26, 1990, in Terre Haute, to Tracey West and Sharon E. Whitford. He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 21, 2010.
Survivors include his mother of Rosedale; his girlfriend and companion, Brittney Ledford; two brothers, Mat West and Garbriel Whitford; two sisters, Kara West and Mariah West; his stepmother, Debbie Thomas; his grandparents, Ruth and Clyde Krout, Tom and Norma Whitford, Carol Joan West, and Judy and Bill Dowell. He also was preceded in death by his grandfather, Sheldon Ziba West.
Kyle was a graduate of West Vigo High School Class of 2008. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was always known as the life of the party. He enjoyed life and making people laugh. Throughout his illness he spent much of his time being concerned about others around him, both family and friends always assuring them that it would be all right and handling his situation with a lot of courage. He also enjoyed riding and racing quads, hunting, especially deer hunting with his dad and brother. He was always quick to remind them that he had harvested the biggest buck of the three of them which was a large 11 pointer.
Funeral services for Kyle will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Bob Roush officiating. Burial will be in Pleasantview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and prior to services Wednesday.
