Brenda J. Johnson Wycoff

TERRE HAUTE — Brenda J. Johnson Wycoff, 65, of West Terre Haute passed away at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born Nov. 20, 1947 in West Terre Haute.

Survivors include her children, Rose McGranahan and her husband Roy, Joyce Fields and her husband Rich “Garry” Fields, Rick Johnson, Brenda Waldrop and Mary Johnson and her companion Richard “Honk” Elkins; her mother, Betty Phipps; three brothers, Bob Couch and his wife Carol, Gary Couch and his wife Deb, and Herb Phipps; three sisters, Trella Fay Sharp and her husband Frank, Connie Padgett and her husband Elvis, and Debbie Lowe and her husband Phil; 12 grandsons; four granddaughters; five great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry “Duke” Wycoff; a son, Butchie Johnson Jr.; a daughter, Nancy Johnson; her father, John Robert Couch; her step-father, John Woodrow “Woody” Torpy; two sisters, Virginia Ivey and Nancy Couch; and three brothers, Larry Rowley, Bill Phipps and Donnie Couch.

She was a member and past president of the American Legion Post 501 Ladies auxillary, where she had also been employed as the bartender for many years. She was also a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 6574 Ladies Auxillary and the West Terre Haute Young Men’s Club. She loved playing Bunko with her good friends and collecting Indian memorabilia and various rooster figurines, and she loved her Pepsi.

Funeral services for Brenda will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Wilbur officiating and an auxillary memorial service by the V.F.W. Post 6574 ladies auxillary. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Thursday.
