Allen L. Brown

TERRE HAUTE — Allen L. Brown, 70, of Brazil, passed away on May 10, 2013 at Cleveland Clinic, four weeks after minor surgery in Terre Haute.

Allen was born on April 1, 1943, the son of the late John and Verdie (Overton) Brown. Allen married the love of his life, Linda K. Nussel, on Sept. 15, 1961. Allen was recently retired as business owner of Brown’s Painting and Decorating Inc.

Allen enjoyed spending time with his family, but he enjoyed being grandpa and papa the most. He was known to have an adventurous spirit and enjoyed many hobbies and interests, in addition to spending time with his family. Before his health started declining, he was a black belt in karate, enjoyed flying small airplanes and hill climbing with dirt bikes. Allen loved the outdoors, including gardening, fishing, boating, caring for his property, mushroom hunting, photography and his Harley. He also enjoyed being a self-taught guitar player and wood worker. Allen and his golden retriever, Molly, were inseparable.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Allen is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda K. Brown of Brazil; son, Rick A. Brown and Chris of Center Point; daughter, Kimberly L. Isles and husband Scott of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Joshua A. Brown and wife Sara, Samantha A. Brown and Bryan; great-granddaughters: Kalli, Bailey and Aubrey; and extended family and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Lawson-Miller Chapel, with the Rev. Dawn Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 until time of the service. There was also a visitation on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart Association, Attn: Memorial/Tribute Processing Center, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
