Ethel May Stadler Sollars

TERRE HAUTE — Ethel May Stadler Sollars, 76, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2013. She passed away at 6:42 p.m. in the Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.

She was an ordained minister of the Nazarene Church and was a graduate of the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colo. She served as a pastor of the Bloomingdale Nazarene Church and other Nazarene churches in the area.

She was born Nov. 29, 1936 in West Terre Haute to Ralph O. Stadler and Lucille L. LaFavor Stadler. Her husband, Robert E. Sollars, whom she married on May 21, 1967 in the Eastside Nazarene Church in Terre Haute, preceded her in death on May 7, 1971 in a tragic semi truck accident. She was a qualified medicine aid and had worked many years at the Vigo County Home in Terre Haute.

Survivors include one sister, Ozella Bell Stadler of Terre Haute; one brother, Arthur W. Stadler of Clay County; two step-sons, Robert Sollars Jr. and Richard Sollars, both of Marshall, Ill.; a step-daughter, Wanda Gail Sollars Pittman of Marshall; an uncle, Arthur G. Stadler of Clayton; and very dear friends, Laura Boyce and her son Lonnie Boyce of Brazil; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, and her little dog, Pacer.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Louis Orlando Ralph Stadler and Mary Elizabeth Stadler; and a sister-in-law, Shelia Marie Stadler; and a niece, Bonnie Lucille Stadler.

Funeral services for Ethel will be at 1 p.m. on Monday in the Terre Haute Friends Church, 9 1⁄2 and Wheeler streets, Terre Haute, with the Rev. David Lowe officiating. The church is located one block north of Margaret Ave. on 9 1⁄2 Street. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., West Terre Haute. There will also be visitation from 11 a.m. until service time in the church on Monday. The family kindly suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends Church with envelopes available in the funeral home and the church.
