TERRE HAUTE —
Patricia Sue Lester, 65, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. Mary’s Providence Health Care.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1947 in Evansville to James and Martha (Ringham) Campbell.
Patricia graduated from Evansville North High School in 1965. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana State University in 1969 and later earned her master’s degree in education. She taught history for more than 30 years at Turkey Run Jr./Sr. High School. She loved to travel the world and shared her excitement for exploring with the many groups of students that went to Europe with her during her years teaching. Patricia was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, as well as the Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. She was a true lover of pets, in particular her beloved poodle, Charlie. Most of all, Patricia cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, especially doting on her four grandchildren whenever she could. She will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grammy, sister and friend.
Patricia is survived by her children, Dan Lester and his wife Ashlie of Columbia, Mo., and Susan Carey and her husband Alex of Princeton, Ind.; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kendall Carey and Joseph and Ava Lester; a sister, Nancy Andrews of Indianapolis, and a brother, Rich Campbell of Evansville; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Holli Campbell.
In accordance with Patricia’s wishes, cremation was chosen. An informal memorial celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Collett Park Pavilion in Terre Haute. Memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s name to the Terre Haute Humane Society. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at:
