Carolyn Sue Meneely Hill, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at Union Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 1, 1941, in New Goshen, Ind., to Edward Meneely and Deloris Bemis Meneely. She was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School in 1959, after graduation she moved to Chicago, got married and worked as a personal assistant while raising three boys. She later moved to Arizona and worked at a real estate office as a switch board operator for several years. Then she lived in Pensacola, Fla., and owned a bar, where her oldest son played the drums in a band. Carolyn and her husband retired back to Terre Haute and enjoyed doing flea markets and going to auctions. She also enjoyed working in the flower garden and was a good painter and artist. She loved her pug dogs, Dolly and Toby. No matter how busy Carolyn was, she always had time every summer for her four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Richard Hill; mother-in-law, Mazzie Hill; her husband of 52 years, Carl Hill; and her twin sister, Marilyn Brown. She is survived by her three sons, Richard E. Hill, Carl A. Hill, and Darrell A. Hill; four grandchildren, Ricky Hill II, Nicole Hill, Kim Hill, and Chris Hill; and one great-granddaughter, Mya Kearschner; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and aunts. She also is survived by longtime school friend, Carla Stogsdill; and special friends, Mary Newman, Leslie Kunz, Becky, Debbie, and Mary More.
