BRAZIL — Deneta Campbell, 86, of Brazil, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born in Terre Haute, on Dec. 15, 1927, to Alva and Ethel Campbell. Deneta graduated from Staunton High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University. She retired as the office manager of the Growers Co-op in Terre Haute.
Deneta was a member of North Union United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Clay County Historical Society, Clay County Business Women, Beta Sigma Phi, and Genealogy Society of Terre Haute.
Deneta touched everyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Dorval Prather. Survivors include her niece, Ramona Russell of Terre Haute; nephews, Ronald (LaRee) Prather of Evans, Ga., and Robert (Susan) Davis of Terre Haute; great-nieces, Michelle (Joe) Layko of Newport, N.C., and Jill Davis and Julie Davis, both of Terre Haute; and great-great-nieces and nephews: Steven Layko, Samantha Layko, Joey Layko, Nolan Phillips, Eleanor Phillips, and Ashley Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., in Brazil, with Pastor John Holwerda officiating and burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. The family will accept friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Clay County Historical Society.
