TERRE HAUTE —
Richard Roscoe Wilkins, 40, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013. He was born on May 18, 1972, in Terre Haute, to Patricia Merrill (Russell) and was the son of Leonard Wilkins and Richard Humphrey. He attended Terre Haute South Vigo High School and Ball State University. He was a waterman while living in Baltimore, and became first mate on a crab boat working for Gaffney’s Crabs. Most recently, he was employed at Lovett Pallet, a job he truly loved.
Rick had a heart as big as his personality was. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Indianapolis Colts fan, and loved riding his beloved motorcycle. He never met a stranger, and was a friend to everyone he met. Rick treasured the time he spent with friends and family and will be missed dearly.
Rick is survived by his wife of 14 years, Candice Ann Wilkins (Maurer); mother, Patricia Merrill (Bob), and father, Richard Humphrey; daughters, Nicole Amelotte, Amber Wilkins, and twins Ruby and Cora Wilkins; two brothers, Brian Wilkins and Craig Wilkins; two sisters, Megan Humphrey and Jamie Griffin (Tim); aunts and uncles, John Russell, Ron Russell (Paula), Maureen Bridges (Rick), Diana Russell, Kay Krackenberger (Dennis), Kathy Poole (Petey), Georgia Douglas, Myron White, Robert Humphrey (Penny), Mike Humphrey, Terrie Staggs (Mike), Tonya Smith (Jerry), Gerald “Sonny” Humphrey (Lisa), and Tracie Humphrey (Zach); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, whom he adored. Rick also left behind his best friend, his beloved dog, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Wilkins; and his grandparents, Virgil and Doris Russell, Nina and John White, and Delbert and Gloria Humphrey.
A celebration of life will be held for Rick on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Vigo County Conservation Club, 10382 Grotto Road, in Terre Haute. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his infant daughters, Ruby and Cora Wilkins.
