VINCENNES — David Magruder, 48, of Vincennes, passed away April 28, 2013, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. David was a 1983 graduate of Lincoln High School. He graduated from Vincennes University in 1985, with a degree in electronics and robotics. Employed by More Golf, he traveled to Florida and many resort islands, managing the installation of water features and hazards. He was the assistant manager at the Waterford Golf Course in Venice, Fla., and managed the only golf course in Aruba. In Aruba, he also oversaw the completion of the construction of the course.
David was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was involved with two of the Clark Middle School musicals. Also involved with the Lincoln High School “Pride of the Green” marching band, David managed the band concession stand at the Lincoln Football games, and helped with the high school drum line.
The third shift assistant maintenance manager at Lewis Bakery, he also was the union representative.
He enjoyed helping others. He loved his family, and they always came first in his life. Born March 14, 1965, in Vincennes, he was the son of Harlan and Marilyn (Schaefer) Magruder.
Surviving is his mother, Marilyn Magruder of Vincennes; his father and stepmother, Harlan and Judy Magruder of Staunton; his wife, Lucy (Santodomingo) Magruder; his son, Matthew; brothers, Tim (Karen) Magruder of Vincennes, and Steve (Beth) Magruder of Mount Vernon; stepbrothers, Terry (Lulu) Kesler of Indianapolis, and Bill (Pam) Kesler of Sarasota, Fla.; uncle, Hugh (Glenda) Schaefer of Vincennes; father-in-law, Arnulfo Santodomingo and mother-in-law, Teresa Cantillo de Santodomingo, of Santa Marta, Columbia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edmundo, Rosalia, Jamides, and Felix Santodomingo, all of Santa Marta, Columbia; and nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 11 a.m. EDT, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday, from 3 to 8 p.m. EDT, at Goodwin Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family through:
