Marlene Jean Abrams, 65, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at her residence. Marlene was born in Springfield, Ohio, on Sept. 3, 1947, the daughter of James and Betty (Bowsher) Newell.
Mrs. Abrams was a dispatcher for the Navistar Company, a caregiver, nanny and housekeeper for many. Marlene enjoyed sewing, collecting Emmett Kellys, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Abrams was a friend to all, would lend a helping hand to anyone, and always had a positive outlook.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Newell; and her husband, Ralph Abrams. Marlene is survived by her daughters, Michele (Doug) Marlow of Granger and Mandy Homol of Terre Haute; and grandchildren, Gage, Ally, Evan and Maddie Marlow of Granger, and Marlayna and Dalton Burry of Terre Haute. Also surviving are Marlene’s siblings, James (Tammy) Newell, Sandy (Frank) Anderson, Bill Newell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, 3201 Mckeen Street, in Terre Haute, at 3 p.m., with Andy Fishback officiating. Immediately following services there will be time for fellowship at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Simple Cremations and Burials, Clinton.
