She was known for her fabulous cooking. She was a strong supporter of all local teams, loved Indiana State University, Indiana University, and Purdue University sports, the Indiana Pacers and NCAA basketball tournaments and Olympic figure skating.

Her survivors are two sons, Steven Dickerson and wife Gayle of Louisville, Ky., and Tom Dickerson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and two daughters, Kathy Dickerson, and Patricia Halloran and husband Bernard, all of Terre Haute. Also close to Betty and the family, “adopted” daughter, Jeanne Lorenzo. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Hays; brothers, William Francis, Robert Francis and wife Edith, Charles “Chid” Francis and wife Della, and Joe Francis and wife Harriet; and a great-great-grandson, Grant Hatzl.
