Gary B. ‘Cracker’ Wilson

NEW GOSHEN — Gary B. “Cracker” Wilson, 70, of New Goshen, Ind., passed away at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, in his home. He had been a coal miner for many years, and also retired from Forsythe Heating and Cooling in New Goshen a few years ago. He was born July 15, 1943, in New Goshen, to Rosemary Natalie and Dick Mooney. He was a member of the New Goshen Volunteer Fire Department for fifty years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Beth, in 2010; his parents; a half-brother, Pat Mooney; and aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Mary E. “Beth” Wilson; his son, Gary Lee Wilson; his grandsons, Ryan Carter and his wife Teresa, and Aarron Wilson and his wife Joy; his granddaughters, Chelsea Carter, and Amber Martin and her husband John; his great-grandchildren, Lexi Hunter, Brody Wilson, Rylee Carter, Lane Martin, Kinlee Martin, and one on the way, Rylan Carter; his mother-in-law, Madge Hobson; half-brothers, Bill Harris of Fort Worth, Texas; and Raymond Harris of Jackson, Mich.; a half-sister, Mary Cravens of Paris, Ill.; and his aunt, Dorothy Jovanovich of Blandford, Ind.

He was a member of the West Terre Haute Young Men’s Club. He loved fishing, hunting, and hunting mushrooms with his family and all of his buddies.

Funeral services for Gary will be at 7 p.m. Monday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Roush officiating, and a fire department memorial service by the New Goshen Fire Department. According to his wishes, cremation will be scheduled after all services. Burial of his ashes will be at a later date in Pleasantview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the service time Monday. The family would like to give many thanks to all of his visiting nurses and hospice nurses with Hospice of the Wabash Valley. They were all wonderful with the care they provided to Gary and his family. The family also kindly suggest that in lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Gary Wilson Memorial Fund to assist with expenses, with envelopes available.
