Jane Ann Dickerson

CLAY CITY — Jane Ann Dickerson, 80, of Clay City, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Dec. 20, 2013, at Union Hospital following an extended illness. Jane Ann was born in Clay City, July 17, 1933, the daughter of Harry O. Storm and Opal (Reed) Storm. Jane Ann graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1951. She married Guy J. Dickerson on April 19, 1955. Jane Ann worked for Quaker Maid, Dr. Conner, R.J. Schultz Clothier, and Gordon Hayes Insurance but her favorite job was being a full time “Nanny” to her grandkids.  

Jane Ann was a member of the Clay City First United Methodist Church, Clay City Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 355 and the Bowling Green Chapter 304, and Clay City Red Hat Society. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing on computers, watching movies, going fishing in Michigan, sitting on the front porch watching the world go by, attending the Clay City Fair each and every year. and doting on her grandchildren. Jane Ann was active in the foreign exchange program Youth for Understanding, where she and her husband hosted more than 20 exchange students over the course of 19 years.

Jane Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Opal Storm; a son, David Dickerson; and a brother, S. Birch Storm.

Jane Ann is survived by her husband of 58 years, Guy Dickerson; a daughter, Jo Beth Haviland and husband Dale; daughter-in-law, Lisa Dickerson; grandkids, Kendall Dickerson, Evan Dickerson, Elizabeth Haviland, and Brent Haviland; a loyal Shih Tzu Lilly; four parrots, Buck, Wingy, Paulie, and Cha Cha; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, in Clay City, Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor LaMont Bonath officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to Clay City First United Methodist Church, 610 Washington St., or American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
