Morris R. “MO” Jones, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Danville Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Ill. He was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Terre Haute, to Raymond Jones and Hilah Morris Jones.
He was well known in Terre Haute as the Doughnut man for many years and had owned and operated the O’ Boy Doughnut Shop at 1325 S. 25th St., in Terre Haute, for 25 years. He later became a sheet metal worker. Morris was a hard working man and a dedicated worker and had been working up until the time of his illness in March.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Judy Cooper Jones; nine children, Jana Renfro and her husband Ricky, Raymond Jones and his companion Sandy, Jody Park and her husband Norman, Steve Dilg, Diana Long and her husband David, Jack Jones, Jill Schimmel, James Patrick Jones, and Dana Evans; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie Curry; and a grandson, Ricky Renfro Jr.
Morris was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War, a lifetime member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 and the American Legion Wayne Newton Post 346, both in Terre Haute.
Funeral services for Morris will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., in West Terre Haute. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery with military rites provided by V.F.W. Post 972. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Saturday. The family kindly suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morris Jones memorial fund with envelopes available in the funeral home.
