Stephen Simrell, 65, of Terre Haute, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, surrounded by his family in Jacksonville, Fla. He was born July 4, 1947, in Terre Haute, to Raymond and Xenia Simrell.
Stephen was a PFC in the Armed Forces. After his service, Stephen was an entrepreneur and local business owner in Terre Haute, once owning Simrell’s, The Idaho Club, Simrell’s Grocery and Deli, Bohannon’s East and most recently co-owning Zamberletti Restaurant.
Stephen was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972, American Legion Post 104, the Marine Corp League, Lodge 42 Free & Accepted Masons, and a member of Sycamore Country Club. In addition, he was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include many beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., with the Rev. David Rosen and Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be at Highland Lawn Cemetery in Soldier’s Circle. VFW Post 972 will conduct military graveside services. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.
