Ralph “Rowdy” Homer Bennett Jr., 67, of Clinton, passed away Aug. 3, 2013, at 5:05 p.m. in the emergency room of Union Hospital Clinton. He was born on Sept. 19, 1945, to Ralph Homer Bennett Sr., and Beulah Orbell Nolan Bennett. He was a graduate of Rosedale High School. He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He had worked at JI Case until it closed, 15 years at Shenango, and then on to retire from GE Unison.
Rowdy enjoyed fishing, boating, working in the yard. He loved his dogs Mendy and Winston, and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He often attended races and was a proud Mark Martin fan.
He is preceded in death by his father; Ralph Bennett Sr.; his mother, Beulah Vorek and stepfather, Joseph Vorek.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Bennett, whom he married Sept 9, 1991; daughters, Brandi Bennett and Traci Devins; sons, Mark Devins Sr. (Lacee) and Shane Carty; grandchildren, Madison and Macy Hanner, Morgan and Dustin Lawson, Ashley Oaks (Mark), Brittany Wyndham (Paul), Tori Linnenkamp, Mark Devins Jr., Cody Lawson and Blaze Carty; great-grandchildren, Brayden Oaks, Avery and Paislee Higginbotham and Brylee Shaffer; a brother, Charles Bennett; sisters, Mary Ann Shannon (Jim), Gayla Mager and Margaret Bentley (George), sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Skultety, Ginny and Darrell Bennett, and Pearl Prate.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 1 p.m., at Frist Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Perry officiating. Burial will be in Helts Prairie Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
