Thomas Vanzo Jr., 73, of Rosedale, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Lake County, Ill., the son of Thomas Vanzo Sr. and Edna McGranahan Vanzo. He graduated from Bridgeton High School. Tom served in the National Guard for four years. Tom has worked as a truck driver for the Co-op and last worked as a guard at Putnamville Correctional Facility, retiring in 2002. Tom also has been a farmer essentially all his life. He was a man who enjoyed simple things in life including Eddie's hamburgers and a good cup of coffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlene Vanzo, in 2006; and a brother, James “Jack” Vanzo.
Survivors include his daughters, Toni Woody and husband Mike of Bloomingdale, and Debra Vanzo of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Jennifer Woody of Terre Haute, Jason Woody of Dumas, Texas, and Jennifer McCauley and husband Ever Oritz; great-grandchildren, Colton Cory, Evelyn, Alex and Lettie Ortiz; sister-in-law, Sue Vanzo and her children Jackie Chastain and husband Jared, and Jimmy Vanzo; and great-nephews, Kade and Kolton.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil. Graveside services will be Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Clear Run Cemetery in Bridgeton with Brother Rick Thomas officiating. Light a candle in his memory at:
