Kevin Dean Gower

INDIANAPOLIS — Kevin Dean Gower, 47, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus, Sunday, June 16, 2013, after a courageous and grace-filled battle with lung cancer. Kevin was born Dec. 11, 1965, in Hammond, to Billy J. Gower and Joan Patricia Gower. He was an assistant branch manager for Old National Bank, at the Emerson Walmart branch.

Kevin spent his childhood years in Munster. He graduated from Munster High School in 1984 and received his B.A. Degree in Sociology, from Indiana State University in 1990. In his early career, he managed Marjax Sporting Goods in Terre Haute (1990-1992) and Bloomington, Ind., (1992-1994). He moved to Indianapolis in 1997 and was a manager with S&K Menswear and Budget Car & Truck Rental, before he started at his favorite place to work, Old National Bank, in 2005.

Kevin was an avid gardener who always looked at a yard as an empty canvas, to create and nurture a beautiful landscape. He also loved to spoil and spend time with his dog, Tucker T. Tom. He was a funny, compassionate, caring person with a quick wit and a bright friendly smile. He walked down many paths, but over the last few years the Lord began preparing his heart for what was his last battle. He fully committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, during his illness and the Lord carried him through his darkest hours. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and co-workers.

He is survived by his longtime friend of 24 years and brother-in-Christ, Douglas L. Terrell; his father, Billy J. Gower of Munster; brothers, Billy Gower (Lesley) of Medaryville, and Eric Gower of Munster; sisters, Jennie D’Amicone (Sandro) of Akron, Ohio, and Karen Gower of Munster; nephews, Robbie Biella, J.J Madison (Miranda), Christian Fettig, and William Fetting; nieces, Scarlet Gower, Audrey Fettig and Hannah Gower; and a special aunt, Bettie Stevens He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Patricia Gower in 2007.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 East Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, where the funeral service will be Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. The committal service and entombment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories at Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 North Clinton St., Terre Haute. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice.
