CASEY, Ill. — CASEY, Ill. — Ruby Helen (Williams) Cushman, 91, of Casey, passed away 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Heartland Nursing Center, in Casey. She was born March 4, 1922, in Enfield, Ill., the daughter of Samuel Williams and Mary Foley Williams. On June 15, 1940, she married Floyd Franklin Cushman in Kentucky. He passed away on Aug. 29, 2009.

Survivors include daughter, Sondra K. Powell and husband Clyde of Rockville, Ind.; son, Richard L. Cushman and wife Nancy of Marshall, Ill.; son, Walt D. Cushman of Atlanta; brother, Sam Williams Jr. of Carmi, Ill.; sister-in-law, Maxine Lee of Fairfield, Ill.; grandchildren, Brent Powell and wife Annette, Brian Powell and wife Kris, Rhonda Curran and husband Dan, Chuck Cushman, Matt Cushman and wife Erin, Eric Cushman, and Holly Cushman; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Beasley and husband Jimmy, Taylor Powell, Adam Powell, Logan Powell and Aidan Curran; and great-great-grandsons, Griffin Beasley, Kainan Beasley, and Jackson Cushman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert Williams; brother-in-law, Howard Lee; and sister-in-law, Joan Williams.

Mrs. Cushman formerly worked at the Casey IGA as a baker and retired as a dietary aid for Heartland Nursing Home. She enjoyed quilting and loved to cook.  Her specialties included noodles, hot rolls, dressing, and apple pie. Ruby made hot relishes for “her men” and special cakes for her grandchildren.  

Graveside funeral services and burial will be at 1 p.m. CDT on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Hammack Cemetery, in Springerton, Ill., with the Rev. Carroll Kakac officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., in Casey.
