FARMERSBURG — Maebelle Deuel, 88, formerly of Carrier Mills, Ill., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Shawnee Rose Nursing Home, in Harrisburg, Ill. Maebelle was born in Farmersburg, on March 3, 1925, the youngest of four children to Paul and Lena Sharpe.
She was married to Jim Evans, the father of her three children. She married Clarence Deuel in 1977, and both preceded her in death.
She is survived by her three children. Becky Evans of Decatur, Ill., Sherry and Dennis Conley of New Burnside, Ill., and Matt and Carolyn Evans of Roanoke, Va.; and a stepdaughter, Stevie Evans Pirtle and Richard Pirtle of Sullivan. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Michael, Mesha, Jamie, Nikki, Melissa, Ashley, Sean, Shelby, Ryan, and Megan; and three stepgrandchildren, Stacey, Susan, and Robert. She also had several great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister-in-law, Minnie Sharpe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters, Hallie Hall and Florence Weaver; and her brother, Joe Sharpe.
Maebelle's wishes were to be cremated and taken to Indiana to be buried near her parents. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Westlawn Cemetery, in Farmersburg. Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home, in Carrier Mills, assisted the family with the arrangements.
