Mary J. “Rusty” Myers, 89, of Terre Haute, Ind., and formerly of Rockville, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in Meadows Manor East at Terre Haute. She was the retired corporate secretary for Myers Lumber Company of Rockville. She was born July 2, 1924 in Kentucky to the late George Shrout and Susan Judge Shrout. Her husband, George Thomas “G.T.” Myers, whom she married Sept. 6, 1947, died March 7, 1970.
Survivors include three sons, George Thomas Myers III of Smyrna, Tenn.; James David Myers of Terre Haute; and Robert Michael Myers of Hopewell, Ind.; two daughters, Cindy Myers Butler of Terre Haute and Cassie Myers Cox of West Terre Haute, Ind.; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Dr. Gustin Blubaugh and Ruth Blubaugh; two brothers; one stepsister; and her son, Gary Andrew Myers, in 1951.
She was a graduate of Purdue University and a supporter of the Glee Club. She was a member of Rockville Christian Church and the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Rockville Tri-Kappa.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with Kevin B. Jacks officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Gooch Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, should friends so desire, may be made to the Rockville Christian Church, 292 W.
