Michael Emerson Schaffer


TERRE HAUTE — Michael Emerson “Schaff” Schaffer went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute from pancreatic cancer. “Schaff” was born in Terre Haute, on June 27, 1957, the son of Charles E. Schaffer and Nancy L. (Phillips) Schaffer. Michael was a graduate of Terre Haute North High School and was a member of the Iron Workers Local 439 and Local 22.

Mr. Schaffer was preceded in death by grandparents, Lawrence and Lucille Schaffer, and Ralph and Lelia Phillips. He is survived by his parents; children, Brooke (Michael) Padgett, Jordan Cree, Shelby Schaffer and Madison Schaffer; grandchildren, Alexis Schaffer, Alex Emond, and Lauren Emond; siblings, Tamra (Jerome) Cheatham, and Mark (Kerry) Schaffer; aunts, Betty Luken, Elinor Manwarring, Alma (Dan) Bamgarten, and Connie (Daryl) Turner; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Ted Laughrey, Elizabeth Shagley, Cheri (Jim) Shepard, and Lucy (Buddy) Fredrick.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with Brother Paul Willard officiating and a celebration of life open house will follow from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Joseph A Bray Marine Corps League.
