Robert F. Morris

MARSHALL, ILL. — MARSHALL, Ill. — Robert F. Morris, 81, of Marshall, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at his residence. Bob was born April 14, 1932, in Humboldt, Ill. He was a son of Dewey and Mary Margaret (Guill) Morris. He married Patricia McLane April 29, 1955, in Ft. Lee, Va. She passed away Feb. 7, 2002.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Morris of Bloomington, Ill.; one son, David and his wife Denita Morris of Marshall; two grandsons, Denny Morris of Marshall, and DJ Morris of Tucson, AZ; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Maddie and Gage Morris of Marshall and Izabelle and Dalton Morris of Tucson.; one brother, Leonard (George) and his wife Marge of Mattoon, Ill.; one sister, Pauline Lawrence of Arcola, Ill.; and a special friend, Betty Fraker. He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, William Morris; and one sister, Karen Hohlbauch.

Bob was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a High School math teacher. He started his teaching career in Nokomis and Cisne and retired from Marshall High School in 1989 after 32 years of service.  

Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall and also a member for over 40 years of the American Legion Post 90 in Marshall, where he served as Senior Vice Commander.  

He enjoyed golfing, hunting and any sporting event involving his great-grandchildren; and his great-great-nieces.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. CST Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall. Father Mike Haag will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery in Arcola, Ill. Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m. with a wake service starting at 3 p.m. at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall or the Marshall Athletic Boosters.
