Dolores Ann Carbon (Thorp)

TERRE HAUTE — Dolores Ann Carbon (Thorp), 77, of Terre Haute, passed away at Union Hospital on Jan. 28, 2014. She was born in Terre Haute, on April 21, 1936, to Ralph B. Thorp and Edith Thorp. She was married to Albert J. Carbon Jr. on April 7, 1956.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Thorp Pruitt (Indianapolis); her children, Lisa Ann Carbon Barbee (Ed), Albert J Carbon III “Chip” (Ediany; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Carolyn Ann Carbon Nevins (Charlie); grandchildren, Carrie Johnson, Nathan Johnson (Autumn), Heather Barbee, Anna Nevins and Katie Nevins, all of Terre Haute, Nick Barbee (Wilmington, N.C.) and Kristen Carbon (Fort Lauderdale); great-grandchildren, Jadelynn Emory, Robbie Arnett, Maddox Johnson and Hunter Henry; and special grand and great-grandchildren include, Stacy Applegate, Charles II, Danny, Ryan, Stephanie, Robert, Tempest, Pagoda, Jonathan and Aidan Nevins, Summer Yamamoto, Jennifer Stinson, Ryan Yamamoto, Stephanie Rice, Ian and Liam Yamamoto and Mikah Rice. She has additional extended family and lifelong friends throughout the Wabash Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters; Betty Jean Thorp and Virginia Thorp Wolford Pence.

She graduated from Garfield High School in 1954. She retired as the director of Simeon House (Catholic Charities). She passed with her family present to be with her lifelong love and husband, Al, and to be with her one and only God.

An open house to celebrate her life is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, from 3 until 6 p.m at Hulman Street Wesleyan Church Fellowship Hall, 1620 South 20th Street, in Terre Haute. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make donations to Hulman Street Wesleyan’s Children’s Fund in her name. Online condolences can be made at:
