Russell E. ‘Bud’ Sutton Jr.

MARSHALL, Ill. — Russell E. “Bud” Sutton Jr., 86, of Marshall, passed away at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Burnsides Community Care Center in Marshall. He was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Redmon, Ill., the son of Russell E. Sutton and Ruth Lowry Sutton. He married Avis Malcom on Oct. 12, 1952 in Paris, Ill. He retired from the Illinois Cereal Mills in Paris in 1990 and retired from farming in 2002.

Surviving are his wife, Avis; his children, Candace Sutton of Redmon, Dale (Judy) Sutton of Paris, Chris (Ed) Trover of St. Bernice, Ind., Jerry (Margaret) Sutton of Marshall, Cheryl Sutton of Redmon, and Jim (Lesa) Sutton of Marshall; a daughter-in-law, Katie Sutton of Terre Haute, Ind.; his siblings, Norma Darnell of Marshall, Paul (Joyce) Sutton of Marshall, Harold (Phyllis) Sutton of Paris, Duane Sutton of Malvern, Ark., and Kaye (Dalane) Garver of Madison, Ala.; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Marty Darnell. He was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Sutton and Robert Sutton; and a grandson, Jason Sutton.

He was a member of Oliver United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge in Paris and the Shrine Temple in Springfield, Ill. Throughout the years he was a very accomplished pool player, enjoyed playing with his friends and had played in many tournaments.

He served this nation in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975 and Clark County Post 90 of the American Legion.

Services in honor of his life will be 1 p.m. CST Monday, Jan. 27, 2104, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, with Pastor Bill Duke officiating. Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery, rural Edgar County, Ill., with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 5975 and Clark County Post 90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Oliver United Methodist Church. Online condolences are being accepted at:
