Virginia (Davis) Barr, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Virginia was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Cloverdale, to the late Charles Davis and Blanche (Stevens) Davis-Rollins. Virginia retired after 35 years as an archivist at the IU Foundation. She was a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Terre Haute, and the New Era Club in Hume, Ill.. Virginia was an accomplished pianist and entertained many throughout the years as well as being a very talented seamstress. She married Donald Barr and they were married 60 years until his death on April 2, 2013.
Virginia is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Dr. Roland Kohr of Terre Haute, and Carol Jean and Joe Cabel of St. Charles, Ill. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Roland Charles Kohr, Rebecca Kohr, Meredith Owen (Joe), Jacob Kohr and Lillian Cabel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and half brother, Hubert Stimson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington, Ind. The Rev. Jenni Walker-Noyes will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Unity Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 1207 E. Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
