Ruth Christine Hallett Anderson

TERRE HAUTE — Ruth Christine Hallett Anderson, 75, of Terre Haute, went to paradise on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014. Ruth was born on Nov. 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Arthur Sr. and Lucille (Thompson) Burke. Ruth attended Gerstmeyer High School and was a legal secretary for the law offices of the late Samuel G. Beecher Jr. She also worked at Columbia Records, Energy Assistance and the Hamilton Center.

Ruth opened up her heart and home to so many and she will always be “Momma.” Her family was her life, and she was one of Elvis Presley’s biggest fans. She loved animals.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arthur Burke Jr.; and sister, Linda McVey. Survivors include her children, Christina D. Hallett-Moss, Joseph W. Hallett, Treva L. Hallett, Jacqueline L. Hallett-Barnes and Virgina J. Hallett-Swaim. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Morris Burke; and sister, Joyce Isles.

She will be extremely missed. The family would like to give special thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Angela Shaw and her staff at Union Hospital, Southern Care Hospice, Meadows Manor-North, Dr. Chandra Reedy, Dr. Nabil Mnayarji and Illiana Internal Medicine.

The viewing will be 1 to 4 p.m. and the funeral at 4 p.m. today, Jan. 23, 2014, at Pentecostal House of Prayer, 1526 Harding Ave., in Terre Haute. Arrangements are under the direction of Simple Cremations and Burials. Please join Ruth’s family in sharing memories at:
